ABOUT KEDARNATH

Kedarnath, one of the holiest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 3,583 meters. It is part of the Char Dham Yatra and is famous for its ancient stone temple, believed to have been built by the Pandavas and later revived by Adi Shankaracharya. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and the Mandakini River, Kedarnath offers a serene yet challenging pilgrimage experience. The temple is accessible via a 16 km trek from Gaurikund, and it remains open only from April/May to November due to extreme winter conditions.
