Kedarnath is located in the Garhwal region which is a part of Uttarakhand state. It is believed that Lord Shiva stepped on this holy land with his foot which turned into a Lingam. That's why it is named after him as Lord Kedareshwar Mahadev temple. It has been confirmed by NASA that it is the second cleanest place on earth plotted to have maximum density of oxygen molecules due to its location in a high altitude and continuous rainfall.
